Baseball Wins First AAC Series Ever

BIRMINGHAM - The UAB baseball team secured a series win against Tulane today. This marks the first American Athletic Conference series win ever for UAB baseball.

13 total runs were scored today compared to yesterday's 27. The game started off with Tulane hitting a solo home run by Brady Marget. Tulane scored in the first inning in games two and three.

UAB was able to hit the ground running scoring two runs each, in innings two and three. David Harris got his 2nd RBI of the season when he scored Mayes White on a double to right center. Alex Cheeseman kept the scoring going in the 2nd, with a double down the right field line. The Blazers continued the scoring with three walks and two hit by pitches in inning three. Mayes White and David Harris received two RBIs for their walks. UAB led 4-1.

Tulane hit another solo home run in the 6th inning, but this time by Marcus Cline. UAB also scored in the 6th inning with a Logan Braunschweig single to score David Harris.

Both teams scored in the 7th inning as well with no shortage of runs. Tulane's Brady Marget hit an RBI single to shorten the Blazer lead. UAB answered that score with two runs of their own. Peyton Puckett laid down a sacrifice bunt to score Brayton Brown, and David Harris singled to left field for his 3rd RBI of the game. UAB led 7-3 after seven innings.

The Green Waves tried to mount a comeback in innings eight and nine, but were unable to score enough runs. Tulane scored three more runs leaving 12 runners on base. Four Tulane hits sent two runs across in the 9th inning, but Ty Hutto came in and struck out two batters to earn the save. UAB won the game 7-6 and earned the series win.
