UAB Falls in Series Opener at Rice

HOUSTON, TX - UAB baseball fell short in their series opener at Rice. The Blazers lost a close contest by a score of 4-2.
Rice started off the scoring early with two runs in the first inning. The Owls were able to see the ball well by hitting Berry three times and making him throw 53 pitches through two innings. Another run came across the plate when a bases loaded hit by pitch happened.
UAB got on the scoreboard in the 4th inning, when Brayton Brown and Logan Braunschweig both doubled. Braunschweig had two of UAB's three hits on the night. Tyler Waugh stepped up and scored Brown on an error by the Rice shortstop. The Owls led 3-2 after four innings.
Rice scored once again in the 6th inning with a double by Jacob Devenny. The team out of Houston, out hit the Blazers 10-3 with two of the hits coming in the 4th inning. Blayze Berry went six innings, striking out five and giving up two earned runs. Fianl score: 4-2

Logan Braunschweig: 2-3, 2 doubles, one run scored.
