Blazers Welcome 49ers for Home Series Finale

BIRMINGHAM – UAB Softball enters the final push for the 2024 homestand against the Charlotte 49ers. The Green and Gold face the former C-USA rivals on April 26-28 at Mary Bowers Field for the team's final home series.
The Blazers came off a 1-2 weekend versus Wichita State, where the Blazers collected the first game and fell in the second two. UAB holds a 21-24 record and a 12-9 AAC record coming into the week.

SCOUTING THE 49ERS
The Blazers and 49ers have a budding rivalry after the close competition in the 2023 C-USA conference run for first place. UAB and Charlotte split the first two games before the Green and Gold fell in the series finale, taking the second place spot in the regular season standings.
Charlotte came off a series victory over Tulsa last weekend, where the 49ers defeated the Golden Hurricane with a series sweep. Throughout the season so far, Charlotte has beaten a slurry of ranked opponents in the non-conference slate, including the likes of Florida State, Virginia Tech, and Kentucky. With a 30-16 record and 15-6 conference ranking, the 49ers sit in second place in the American.
The team is neck-and-neck in batting with UAB with an average of .265. Charlotte is also in the bottom half of the conference in fielding with a .848 percentage, with 48 errors. In The Circle, the 49ers rank fourth in the conference in ERA with 3.04. Led by Georgeanna Barefoot and Sam Gress, the 49ers have held batters to a combined average of .211.

The Green and Gold invite fans to their inaugural Childhood Cancer Awareness Game. The event is in conjunction with Friends of Jaclyn and Soles2Hope, complete with cleat decorating stations, inflatables, and in-game promotions.
SUNDAY, April 28: Senior Day
UAB Softball will honor their senior athletes for the 2024 season for senior day. Leigha Kirby, LuLu Brock, Olivia Valbak, Arden Plugge, and Lilly Crowe will be honored on Sunday for the Green and Gold series finale.
