Blazers End Tough Weekend Against East Carolina

Greenville, NC - The UAB baseball team dropped game three against the #14 ranked East Carolina Pirates.

East Carolina scored at least one run in each of the first three innings. Two runs came in the 1st inning with an RBI single to left field and a sacrifice fly to right field. Two more runs scored in the 2nd and 3rd innings to widen the scoring gap to 4-0.

After a very long mound visit from Casey Dunn, Brock Hill came in relief for Colin Daniel in the 4th. He got the final two outs using just four pitches. Hill did not allow any hits in the first 1.2 innings pitched.

East Carolina started the scoring up again in the 6th inning. Neither team had scored in innings four and five. A sacrifice fly by Cunningham was able to score the Pirates another run. UAB had zero hits until the 9th inning when JAke Smallwood got the first hit of the game.

East Carolina ended the scoring in the 7th inning with two runs on four hits. ECU out hit the Blazers by a total of 9-1. UAB also added three errors after being, relatively, clean defensively through the first two games.
