Lendeborg Named AAC Player of the Week for the Second Time

BIRMINGHAM – UAB men's basketball forward Yaxel Lendeborg was named American Conference Player of the Week on Monday, the league announced. Over two UAB wins this week, he averaged 17 points, 16 rebounds, three assists and two blocks per game.
Lendeborg wowed in the Blazers win over No. 20 Florida Atlantic with 17 points and 21 rebounds. His 21 boards are the second-most in a single game in UAB history, tied for second in Division I this season, and tied for third in American Conference history. Lendeborg played 44:55 of the overtime game, exiting for only five seconds. He also had three assists, two steals and one block while shooting 7-for-11 from the field.
Against Tulsa, Lendeborg posted his 11th double-double of the year with 17 points and 11 rebounds. The junior forward knocked down 2-of-3 of his three-point attempts while scoring 15 of his 17 points in the second half. Lendeborg added three assists, three blocks and two steals in the win.
The award is Lendeborg's second of the season. He has also been named to the weekly honor roll three times. This season, he is averaging 12.5 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. He is one of 15 players across the country averaging a double-double.
