Perfect Doubles Performance Leads UAB at Austin Peay Fall Tournament

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The UAB women's tennis team opened its fall season this past weekend in Clarkesville, Tenn. at the Austin Peay Fall Tournament.
In addition to the host Governors, the three-day event included Southeast Missouri, Murray State, Cumberland, and Chattanooga.
In singles, the Blazers went 5-1 against Southeast Missouri, 4-2 against Austin Peay, and 3-3 against Murray State. The Blazers were 12-6 overall in singles.
Sydney Clarke and Mackenzie White went a perfect 3-0, Vanessa Mellynchuk and Enya Ratkic went 2-1 and Adel Wasserbauerova and Annalisa Smith recorded one win each.
The doubles teams led a perfect performance, taking all nine of their matches against Southeast Missouri, Austin Peay, and Murray State.
Nine different combinations were used for the nine doubles matches. Individually, Clarke, Mellynchuk, Wasserbauerova, Ratkic, White, and Smith each recorded three wins.
After a week off, UAB will head to Baton Rouge, La. for the ITA Southern Regionals. The four-day event begins Oct. 5 and runs through Oct. 9.
