UAB Men’s Soccer Hosts Evansville in Exhibition

BIRMINGHAM – UAB men's soccer will kick off the 2023 season on Saturday against Evansville at PNC Field. The exhibition contest is set for 3 p.m. CT and admission is free. There will not be a broadcast for the exhibition matches.
The Blazers enter their second year in the AAC this season following a 3-9-4 campaign in 2022 and will look to make a mark in year two.
Graduate goalkeeper Jack Hudson returns for UAB and will be a key piece of this year's squad. He earned second team All-AAC honors last season after leading the league with 60 saves and finishing second with a GAA of 1.36 and a save percentage of .759. Hudson recorded three shutouts on the year, including a 0-0 draw with No. 10 Tulsa.
In the midfield the Blazers have a pair of sophomores that will look to make an impact in their second season in Birmingham. Mathias Love Groth earned AAC All-Rookie Team recognition last season and will play a key role on this year's squad. Benedikt Erhard was recognized as a breakout candidate by Top Drawer Soccer this offseason after playing in 15 matches and making nine starts last season. Erhard recorded two assists during his freshman campaign.
GOLD CARD
Men's Soccer season tickets are available for $65 by purchasing the 2023-24 Gold Card. The Gold Card will allow you to gain access to all home events for Women's Soccer, Men's Soccer, Volleyball, Women's Basketball, Softball, and Baseball (Regions Field & Young Memorial). This card is not valid for American Athletic Conference or NCAA Championship events.
