BIRMINGHAM – First year UAB Women's Soccer head coach Lisa Mann has announced that Anais Oularbi, Njeri Lewis and Jolie St Louis have been added to the 2023 roster.
"This has been a very successful transfer window for our program with the signings of Jolie, Njeri and Anaïs," said Mann. "They add quality and experience to our squad, while fitting the profiles we are looking for in the positions they play. All three play for their national teams and had offers from many other schools. We are delighted they chose UAB and feel privileged they have entrusted us with the rest of their college careers".
Oularbi has represented her native Algeria in the Union of North African Football Federations tournaments in 2019 and 2023 leading them to third place finishes each time.
Collegiately, Oularbi played the last two seasons at Radford. She appeared in 30 matches, scoring one goal and setting up a pair. While playing at Radford, she led the Highlanders to the 2022 Big South Championship and a NCAA Tournament berth. For her career, she was part of 25 Highlander victories.
She attended high school at Joseph-François-Perrault High School in Montréal, Quebec.
"Anaïs has incredible game intelligence and technical quality. She can play any of our central midfield roles as she is press resistant and has key pass ability," said Mann.
After spending last season at Kentucky, Lewis most recently represented Jamaica in the 2023 CONCACAF U-20 Championship in the Dominican Republic. She started all three matches for the Jamaicans, logging 267 minutes.
In high school, she led Alpharetta to the GHSA Class AAAAAAA Girls State Soccer Final Four her senior season in 2022. Lewis anchored a defensive unit that did not allow a goal in Region 5 play as the Raiders recorded 13 victories.
Additionally, Lewis played club with Tophat Soccer out of Atlanta.
"Njeri can play anywhere across the back line as she is a great 1v1 defender and strong in the air. Her ability to run with the ball and range of passing will help us in build-up," said Mann.
St Louis comes to UAB after playing two seasons at Seattle. In 2022, she was one of just six players in the Western Athletic Conference that recorded a hat trick, when she netted three goals against Evergreen State. For her career, she saw action in 25 matches with a pair of starts.
She represented Trinidad and Tobago in the 2022 CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers in Mexico. St Louis played in three matches making one start in the event.
In high school, she was named to the GHSA Class AAAAAAA Girls State Soccer All-State her senior season at Dunwoody High.
St Louis also played club for Tophat for two years. Prior to that, she helped UFA win the Georgia state title in 2017. Additionally, she scored 26 goals while in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy.
"Jolie can play any one of our forward positions. She will be a threat to any back line we face with her hold up qualities and ability to run in behind," said Mann.
