UAB MBB Signs Ole Miss Guard James White

BIRMINGHAM – UAB men's basketball head coach Andy Kennedy announced the signing of Ole Miss transfer guard James White on Sunday. White is the second transfer addition for the Blazers ahead of the 2023-24 season, joining former North Alabama guard Daniel Ortiz. White appeared in 46 games for the Rebels over two seasons while making eight starts.
"We are excited that James has chosen to join Blazer basketball!" Kennedy said, "He is a long, athletic wing whose versatility will allow him to make plays on both sides of the ball. At only 19 years old, but with two years of experience in the SEC, we all believe James' best basketball is forthcoming."
White averaged 4.0 points and 2.0 rebounds per game in his sophomore season in Oxford. He scored in double figures three times in SEC play, including a career high of 14 points on 7-for-10 shooting on the road at Missouri. The 6-5 guard scored 13 points at Auburn and put up a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards against South Carolina.
The Conyers, Georgia native was highly recruited out of high school, reporting offers from Alabama, Arizona State, Arkansas, Creighton, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Missouri, Texas A&M and UAB, among others. White was ranked as the No. 135 player in the country, No. 10 player from the state of Georgia and the No. 39 shooting guard in the country according to 247 Sports. He averaged 27.5 points, 8.2 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game his senior year of high school.
The Blazers have now added two transfers in White and Daniel Ortiz to join their two JUCO signees of Chris Coleman and Alejandro Vasquez and lone high school signee KJ Satterfield.
