UAB Women's Tennis Drops 4-3 Decision at Kennesaw State

KENNESAW, Ga. – Sunday's match at Kennesaw State came down to the final singles match that was decided in a tiebreaker. Unfortunately for UAB, they came out on the short end, 4-3.
The match was close throughout, as the Owls took Court 3 in doubles, 7-5, before the Blazers came back with a victory by Mackenzie White and Adela Wasserbauerova, 6-4 on Court 2. The doubles point was decided on Court 1 where Sydney Clarke and Maggie White won 7-6 in a breaker 7-5.
UAB went up 2-0 after Enya Ratkic cruised on Court 6, 6-0, 6-0. KSU took Court 1 before Annalisa Smith made it 3-1 after her win on Court 5, 6-1, 6-3. The Owls won on Courts 2 and 3, deadlocking the match at 3-3.
The deciding match was on Court 4. Mackenzie White won the first set 6-3 and fell in the second set 7-6 (5). The third set also went into a tiebreaker which was won by the Owls. The marathon deciding match took over two hours to complete.
The Blazers (1-2) play North Alabama on Feb. 8. This is the rescheduled match from Jan. 31. UAB opens its 2023 season at the Hoover Met Feb. 12 at noon vs. Georgia State.
