Eric Gaines Named to Preseason All-AAC First Team, UAB Picked Fourth

BIRMINGHAM – The American Conference Released the 2023-24 Preseason All-Conference selections and Coaches Poll on Monday morning. UAB guard Eric Gaines was named to the preseason first team and the Blazers were picked to finish fourth in the league.
Gaines finished with 11.5 points and 4.3 assists per game during his first season with the Blazers in 2022-23 and will play an even larger role this season. He is known for his highlight-reel plays and he appeared on SportsCenter's Top Ten Plays two times last year alone.
UAB was picked to finish fourth in its debut season in the American Athletic Conference, behind Florida Atlantic, Memphis and Tulane. FAU earned 11 of the 14 first-place votes while Memphis received the other three.

The Blazers are set to tip off the 2023-24 season on November 6 at Bartow Arena against reigning MVC champion Bradley. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. CT. UAB will also host an exhibition against Morehouse College on October 30.
