BIRMINGHAM – The UAB men's and women's basketball teams will be participating in the American Athletic Conference Media Day. The two-day event will take place on Oct. 8-9 at the Grand Hyatt DFW in Dallas.
In addition to head coach Randy Norton, the UAB Women's Basketball team will be represented by Denim DeShields and Kylie Schneringer.
DeShields is coming off a stellar freshmen campaign where she led the Blazers with 13.0 points per game and 4.3 assists per game. For her efforts, she was named to the CUSA All-Rookie Team. Although Schneringer missed 27 games with an injury last season, she finished the year averaging 7.3 points per game, shooting 45.5% while making six of her nine 3-point attempts.
The UAB Men's Basketball team will bring forward Javian Davis and guard Eric Gaines along with head coach Andy Kennedy to Dallas.
Davis is the lone player on the UAB roster entering his final season of eligibility. He averaged 6.1 points and 4.0 rebounds last season, and he is poised to play a large role this season. Gaines returns to UAB after averaging 11.4 points per game and leading the Blazers with 168 assists in 2022-23. The point guard is the lone returning starter on a UAB roster that brought in nine new players.
