UAB Men’s Soccer Drops Final Non-Conference Match to Purdue Fort Wayne

BIRMINGHAM – UAB men's soccer (0-8-4) could not keep up with Purdue Fort Wayne (6-4-1) on Wednesday night at PNC Field, falling 3-1 in the Blazers' final non-conference matchup of the season. The Blazers outshot PFW 15-8, but trailed 6-3 in shots on goal.

The Mastodons took the lead in the ninth minute on Seth Mahlmeister's first goal of the night. However, the Blazers were able to respond late in the half.

Tyrell Price found Mayno Linares in the middle of the box and he was able to tuck it away for his first goal of the season. The first half finished on level terms at 1-1.

Purdue Fort Wayne took the lead with 20 minutes remaining on Seth Mahlmeister's second goal of the night. Mahlmeister collected the rebound after Jack Hudson saved Opoku's shot and put the ball in the back of the net.

PFW put the match away in the 80^th minute when Mahlmeister found Dakota Hart in the middle of the box and he extended the Mastodon's lead to 3-1.

The Blazers will be back in action on Saturday night at 7 p.m. CT at PNC Field against Memphis.
