UAB Men’s Soccer Falls to Memphis

BIRMINGHAM – UAB men's soccer (0-9-4, 0-5-1) fell on Saturday night at home against Memphis (7-3-2, 2-3-0) by a score of 3-1. The Tigers outshot the Blazers 19-13, including a 9-5 margin in shots on goal.
Memphis took a two-goal lead into the half after early goals by Lineker Rodrigues Dos Santos and Alberto Cruz. The Tigers scored their first goal in the 24th minute when Rodrigues Dos Santos found the back of the net and added the second late in the half when Cruz put the PK in the bottom right corner.
The Tigers added a third goal in the second half when Elie Bokota played a dangerous cross into the box and the ball deflected off a UAB defender into the goal.
The Blazers answered back with a goal of their own in the 66th minute. Isaac Calderon played a cross into the box and Gustavo Barbosa headed it home for his first collegiate goal.

UAB will travel to Tampa to face South Florida on Saturday, October 21 at 6 p.m. CT.
