Men's Soccer Hosts Purdue Fort Wayne for Final Non-Conference Match

BIRMINGHAM - UAB men's soccer will face off with Purdue Fort Wayne for the final non-conference match of the year. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT at PNC Field. The Blazers will be hosting Pups at the Pitch on Wednesday. Any fans that bring a dog to the match will be eligible for a $3 ticket.

The Blazers lead the all-time series 1-0. The sole meeting between the two sides came in 1996 when UAB defeated the Mastadons, 8-0.

UAB fell on the road, 2-0, at Florida Atlantic on Sunday night in Boca Raton. The Owls scored each of their goals in the second half.

PFW is led by Seth Mahlmeister on the attack. He leads the Mastadons with five goals and one assist. Soshi Fujioka also has five assists on the season. Max Collingwood has spent the most time in goal for Purdue Fort Wayne with six appearances while Danny Salazar has also started four matches.

FRESHMAN MAKING AN EARLY IMPACTΒ Β Β Β Β Β Β Β
Isaac Calderon is making his mark early in his UAB career. The freshman from North Las Vegas, Nev. put one in the back of the net in his collegiate debut at Northern Kentucky and followed that up with another goal at Georgia State in game two. Calderon was ranked as the No. 64 player in Top Drawer Soccer's recruiting rankings for the 2023 class.

NEWCOMERS STEPPING UPΒ Β
This season, underclassmen have scored eight of the Blazers' nine goals, with five coming from newcomers. Freshmen Isaac Calderon and Humphrey Doh lead the Blazers with two goals each while Kaleb Jowers, Alan Melendez, Noe GarciaΒ and Haris Osmanbasic each have one. Five of the seven goalscorers had not scored a goal for UAB entering the season.

Men's Soccer season tickets are available for $65 by purchasing theΒ 2023-24 Gold Card.Β The Gold Card will allow you to gain access to all home events for Women's Soccer, Men's Soccer, Volleyball, Women's Basketball, Softball, and Baseball (Regions Field & Young Memorial). This card is not valid for American Athletic Conference or NCAA Championship events.
