Buffen Named C-USA Player of the Week

BIRMINGHAM – UAB men's basketball forward KJ Buffen was recognized as the Conference USA Player of the Week after he put up back-to-back double-doubles in a pair of wins over Louisiana Tech and Rice. Buffen averaged 15.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game over the UAB's two contests.
In the Blazers' first game of the week, Buffen dominated the boards, grabbing a season-high 13 rebounds, including five offensive boards. The senior added 11 points and two blocks to help UAB secure a 65-59 win over Louisiana Tech.
Against Rice, Buffen was dominant, scoring the Blazers' first nine points, including the first seven scored by either team. He finished with 20 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and three steals in his second-career 20-point double-double.
On the season, Buffen is averaging 10.5 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. He is one of three Blazers scoring in double-figures.

The Blazers will host No. 19 Florida Atlantic on Thursday, Feb. 2 at Bartow Arena. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. CT on CBS Sports Network.
