Walker Named to Oscar Robertson Trophy Midseason Watchlist

BIRMINGHAM – The U.S. Basketball Writers Association released the Oscar Robertson Trophy Midseason Watch List on Thursday. UAB's Jordan Walker was one of 50 players recognized on the midseason watch list.
Since the 1958-59 season, the USBWA has named a National Player of the Year. In 1998, the award was named in honor of the University of Cincinnati Hall of Famer and two-time USBWA Player of the Year Oscar Robertson. It is the nation's oldest award and the only one named after a former player.
Walker currently sits in second nationally with 23.8 points per game. Additionally, he currently ranks fifth in Conference USA, averaging 4.3 assists per game. "Jelly" has five, 30+ point performances on the season and eight for his career. He tied Andy Kennedy as the only two UAB players to score 30 points or more eight times.
The reigning C-USA Player of the Year has been named to numerous watchlists after continuing his impressive play from the 2021-22 season.
The Blazers will host North Texas on Saturday at 3 p.m. in Bartow Arena. The first 4,000 UAB fans will receive a free T-shirt upon entry.

Discounted group tickets and fan experiences are available for a minimum purchase of 15 tickets, and fan experiences are available on a first come, first served basis to any home basketball game during the 2022-23 season.
