BIRMINGHAM – UAB men's basketball is set to return to Bartow Arena for the 2022-23 season after capturing the program's first Conference USA tournament title and NCAA Tournament bid since the 2014-15 season.
The UAB men's basketball seat selection process has recently been completed following the September 1, 2022 priority seat deadline. New season ticket holders may now select the best remaining seats at Bartow Arena during the purchasing process for UAB's 18 home contests.
The Blazers finished the 2021-22 season as the nation's sixth highest scoring offense with 80.3 points per game. UAB was led by Conference USA Player of the Year Jordan Walker, who finished third in the nation with 116 three-point field goals on the year. In addition to Walker, the Blazers return three other starters in KJ Buffen (10.0 ppg, 6.8 rpg), Tavin Lovan (8.2 ppg) and Trey Jemison (7.0 ppg, 7.4 rpg).
UAB Head Coach Andy Kennedy was also active in the transfer portal, picking up a pair of SEC transfers in Eric Gaines and Javian Davis while also adding high-level, mid-major players in Ty Brewer, Ledarrius Brewer and Tyler Bertram.
Kennedy and the Blazers will look to make back-to-back trips to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since making three-consecutive appearances in 2004, 2005 and 2006. Andy Kennedy enters his third season at the helm and has compiled an overall record of 49-15 in his first two seasons. The Blazers tallied a school record 27 victories in 2021-22.
