Softball Concludes Regular Season at UTEP

BIRMINGHAM- The UAB softball team will be on the road for their final regular season series of the season. The Blazers (22-23, 10-10) will face UTEP (15-31, 5-16) in three games this weekend. The games will be streamed live on CUSA.tv.
"We are looking forward to this weekend," said head coach Joe Guthrie. "It is an opportunity to finish strong during the best time of the year."

UAB LATELY
The Blazers are looking to secure their spot in the conference tournament, and will rely on the hitting talents of Faith Hegh and Sierra Frazier to do so. Hegh leads UAB in batting average (3.19) and Sierra Frazier leads UAB in homeruns (5). The Blazers have utilized their entire bullpen this season, and Sarah Cespedes (9-7) paces UAB with 76 strikeouts. Tyler Armistead is a perfect 8-8 when stealing bases. Ten different true freshmen have appeared in games for the Blazers. Four different Blazers have 36+ hits total this season.
SCOUTING UTEP
The Miners will be looking to end their season on a high note this weekend, and will look to get wins by a committee approach when it comes to hitting. Four different Miners have 20+ hits on the year. Anna Sample is UTEP's top batter, she has a slugging percentage of .507 and five homeruns. In the circle, Aalijah Alarcon (10-13) is the top choice for UTEP. She has 71 strikeouts, and currently holds a 4.62 ERA. UTEP is 31-36 in stolen bases.
