BIRMINGHAM – The UAB baseball team heads south this weekend to Boca Raton for a three-game Conference USA series with Florida Atlantic beginning Friday night.
The Blazers (19-9, 5-4 C-USA) have won 6-of-7 weekend series this season and 2-of-3 in league play. FAU enters the series with an overall record of 20-10 and is in second place in the league standings at 6-3.
Friday's game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., followed by a 3 p.m. first pitch on Saturday and the series finale at 11 a.m. on Sunday. All three games can be seen on CUSA.tv.
UAB is coming off a 6-4 midweek loss to No. 25 Auburn but had won 5-of-6 prior to that game. Christian Hall had a monster game against the Tigers, going 3-for-4 with two home runs.
Hall continues to have an All-America worthy season with a .411 batting average, 39 hits, six home runs and 26 RBI. His .411 batting average ranks second in Conference USA, and he will be going up against the league leader in FAU's Nolan Schanuel who is hitting .423 with nine homers and 34 RBI.
The UAB weekend rotation remains intact with Jackson Reynolds (1-2, 2.66 ERA) getting the start on Friday, followed by Tyler O'Clair (1-1, 5.97 ERA) and Brooks Walton (4-1, 3.96 ERA).
FAU is coming off a 5-3 victory over UCF last time out and swept Rice last weekend. Not only do the Owls have the league's leading hitter, but they are batting a collective .301 as a team.
