UAB Concludes Home Season with Three Games Versus North Texas

BIRMINGHAM- The UAB softball team will be playing its final home series of the 2022 season this weekend at Mary Bowers Field. The Blazers (21-21, 9-8) will take on North Texas (28-12, 13-5).
"This weekend is a great opportunity for our team to turn things around," said head coach Joe Guthrie. "We are looking to send Sadie and JoJo out on a great note here at UAB."
UAB LATELY
The Blazers are looking to get back on track after going 0-3 versus Louisiana Tech last weekend. Sierra Frazier is leading UAB in batting average (.319), slugging percentage (.563) and home runs (5). Freshman Lindsey Smith is second in Conference USA in assists (123). Eight Blazers have 20+ hits on the year, and four with 30+. Sarah Cespedes (9-6) is the Blazer's top choice in the circle, with 66 strikeouts.
SCOUTING NORTH TEXAS
The Mean Green are looking to maintain their foothold in C-USA standings, and will look to do so with the hitting talents of infielder Kailey Gamble. Gamble has 13 home runs, and 42 RBIs on the season. Eight of her homers have come in conference play. Ashley Peters (15-5) is the leading pitcher for UNT, with 121 strikeouts to go along with a 2.79 ERA.
WEEKEND INFORMATION
Due to the weather forecast later in the weekend, the first two games of the series will be played in the form of a doubleheader tomorrow, beginning at 3:00 p.m. Game three is set for a 1:00 p.m. first pitch on Saturday. Saturday's game will be broadcasted on ESPN+. Friday's game will be Senior Day for the Blazers, Sadie Frazier and Jolie Readeaux will be honored before the first game. Friday's game is also Youth Jersey Friday, when fans 17 and under can receive free admission when wearing a team or club jersey. Saturday's game will be a part of Signature Saturday, when the team will hold a postgame autograph session, as well as Camper Reunion Day, when former UAB summer softball campers can receive free admission with an RSVP to sportspromo@uab.edu .
Softball season tickets are available by purchasing the 2021-22 Gold Card for $65 here. The 2021-22 Gold Card will get you access to all home events for Women's Soccer, Men's Soccer, Volleyball, Women's Basketball, Softball, and Baseball (Regions Field & Young Memorial). This card is not valid for Conference USA or NCAA Championship events.
