Strong Singles Showing Lefts UAB over Central Arkansas 5-2

HOMEWOOD, Ala. – The UAB women's tennis team won its second match in a row after defeating Central Arkansas on Saturday afternoon.
The Blazers (2-3) dropped the doubles point, but came back strong in singles.
UAB won five of the six matches with Vanessa Mellychuk, Maggie White and Annalisa Smith winning in straight sets on Courts 4, 5 and 6, respectively.
Both Adela Wasserbauerova (Court 2) and Sydney Clark (Court 3) both split their first two matches 6-4, 4-6 before winning the third set. Clarke, 6-4 and Wasserbauerova in a breaker.
Up next is UAB's home opener on Feb. 6 against Chattanooga at Lakeshore Tennis Courts. The first 25 people get a free t-shirt and the team will provide pizza to spectators.
