UAB Concludes Road Trip in Florida With 5-2 Win Over Buffalo

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The UAB men's tennis team concluded its weekend in Florida with a 5-2 victory over Buffalo on Saturday afternoon at the FGCU Tennis Complex. The Blazers earned five singles victories to storm back for a convincing win over the Bulls in Fort Myers, Florida.
UAB finished its weekend trip 1-1 after dropping Friday's match 5-2 to FGCU.
UAB 5, BUFFALO 2
After dropping the doubles point to open the match, UAB took control of Saturday's match in singles play with five victories to post its first win away from Birmingham this season.
Michal Lusovsky, Roman Postolka and Martin Vasquez all notched victories in straight sets to put the Blazers within one match of clinching Saturday's matchup. Lusovsky defeated Buffalo ace Simon Wibler 7-5, 6-3 on court one, while Postolka quickly dispatched Buffalo's Daniils Snaiders 6-3, 6-4 on court four. Vasquez rounded out the Blazers winning in straight sets with a 6-3, 6-2 win on court six.
Noah Malige helped clinch Saturday's match for the Blazers after rallying from a first-set defeat to Yu-Shiang Huang on court five. Malige earned a 6-3 win in the second set before Huang was forced to retire in the third set. Malige held a 4-1 lead in the decisive set before the match was cut short.
Vojtech Podzemny earned UAB's final victory of the afternoon with a 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 (15-13) win on court three.
FGCU 5, UAB 2
UAB opened its weekend with 5-2 setback to FGCU. After dropping the doubles point, the Blazers battled back to tie the match at 2-2 when Thanos Spyropoulos and Vojtech Podzemny earned victories in straight sets on courts two and four, respectively.
Spyropoulos earned a 6-3, 7-6 victory on court two, while Podzemny quickly dispatched FGCU's Gugli Stefanacci 6-2, 6-3 on court four. The Eagles clinched the team match with wins on courts five and three when Maciel Pedro and Randy Wilson secured victories in a pair of three-set matches.

The Blazers will travel to Hattiesburg, Mississippi, for a pair of matches at Southern Miss. UAB will open the weekend with a neutral site matchup against Lamar on Saturday at noon before concluding the weekend against Southern Miss on Sunday at 11 a.m.
