BIRMINGHAM – The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame has released the 2023 Bob Cousy Award Watch List, given to the top point guard in the Division I college basketball. A national committee of top college basketball personnel determined the watch list of 20 candidates. UAB men's basketball senior guard Jordan Walker earned a spot on the list after a stellar 2021-22 season.
Walker led the Blazers to an NCAA Tournament berth after averaging 20.3 points and 4.9 assists per game in 2021-22. "Jelly" earned Conference USA Player of the Year and C-USA Tournament MVP honors while scoring over 30 points in three separate contests, including a program-record 42 points against Middle Tennessee State. Walker was one of three players in the nation to score over 20 points per game and average over 4.5 assists per contest.
Fans are encouraged to participate in Fan Voting, presented by Dell Technologies, in each of the three rounds starting on October 28. In late January, the watch list of 20 players for the 2023 Bob Cousy Award will be narrowed to 10, and then in late February to just 5. In March, the five finalists will be presented to Cousy and the Hall of Fame's selection committee where a winner will be selected.
