UAB Baseball Welcomes UTSA to Young Memorial Field

BIRMINGHAM — The UAB baseball teams welcomes UTSA for a four-game conference series April 30-May 2 at Young Memorial Field.
SERIES SCHEDULE
Game one of the series is scheduled for a 6 p.m. first pitch on Friday, April 30 at Young Memorial Field. Saturday is set for a seven-inning doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. The series finale is a 12 p.m. first pitch on May 2.
UAB (13-28, 6-14 C-USA) vs. UTSA (17-17, 9-10 C-USA)
This is only the second conference series meeting between the two programs. The first came in 2019 in Birmingham where the Roadrunners took the series, 2-1. UTSA has the overall record, 3-1, over UAB.
CONFERENCE CLASH
UAB sits 3.5 games back from the Roadrunners for fourth place in the West Division. The top four teams from the East and West Divisions advance to the Conference USA Tournament May 26-30 in Ruston, La.
UAB LATELY
The Blazers are coming off their final home midweek game of the season versus Alabama at Regions Field. The Crimson Tide won the contest, 9-3. In the last conference series, UAB traveled to Murfreesboro, Tenn., where they lost the series to Middle Tennessee, 3-1.
Chandler Simpson leads the Blazers at the plate with a .328 batting average, 41 hits and 19 stolen bases. Right-handed pitcher Riley Davis has thrown three complete games this season including in his last start at Middle Tennessee.
UTSA LATELY
UTSA split its last conference series with Rice in San Antonio on April 23-25. The Owls took the first and second games, while the Roadrunners won the final two games.
Griffin Paxton leads UTSA with a .359 batting average, which ranks fifth in Conference USA.
RECORD WATCH
Jess Davis has 72 career stolen bases. He sits tied for sixth in program history with Mitch Jones (2000-03).

Attendees will be asked to practice social distancing and wear a mask at all times per state and county ordinance.
