UAB Baseball Welcomes Auburn for Midweek Matchup

BIRMINGHAM — The UAB baseball team welcomes in-state foe Auburn for a midweek matchup on Tuesday, March 9 at 6 p.m. at Regions Field presented by Nestlé.
UAB (6-4, 0-0 CUSA) vs. AUBURN (7-4, 0-0 SEC)
The Blazers and Tigers have met 61 times since 1979. Auburn holds the overall advantage 50-11. The last win for UAB came in the last meeting on May 7, 2019 in a 6-4 contest at Plainsman Park.
UAB LATELY
UAB completed a three-game series against Kennesaw State March 5-7. The Owls took the series 2-1. The teams had two one-run games over the weekend, including a 3-2 game one and 8-7 game three. Left-handed pitcher Dylan Cunningham got his first win of the season in game three after 1.1 innings of work.
AUBURN LATELY
Auburn is coming off a 1-2 weekend against No. 18 Boston College. The Tigers won game two of the series 16-1. Game three went 10 innings and went the way of the Eagles, 11-9. Auburn's midweek contest scheduled for March 2 against Jacksonville State was postponed to April 21.
NATIONAL RANKINGS
Jess Davis is third in the nation in stolen bases (8) and 18th in stolen bases per game (0.80). Zack Davis is 15th in sacrifice flies (2). Colton Schultz ranks sixth in hit by pitch (6). As a team, UAB is 15th in triples (4), 12th in stolen bases (20) and 19th in stolen bases per game (2.00).
CONFERENCE LEADERS
The UAB pitching staff ranks second in Conference USA in earned run average (2.73). The offense has eight top-five ranks in hit by pitch (11), hits (86), runs (68), sacrifice flies (2), stolen bases (20), stolen bases per game (2.00), triples (4) and triples per game (0.40).

Jess Davis moved into solo seventh in career stolen bases with 62 with his stolen base in game three against Kennesaw State. He needs 10 more steals to tie for sixth with Mitch Jones (2000-03).
