Kennesaw State Clinches Series Over UAB Baseball, 9-3

BIRMINGHAM — Kennesaw State used a five-run eighth inning to clinch the series over UAB Saturday at Young Memorial Field, 9-3.
For the second day, UAB (5-4, 0-0 CUSA) and Kennesaw State (7-3, 0-0 ASUN) were in a pitchers' duel through three innings as the teams remained scoreless and allowed only two combined hits.
This time it was the Owls who broke through first in the top of the fourth on a passed ball. Kennesaw State would add a run a piece in the fifth and sixth innings to take the 3-0 lead on the Blazers.
UAB got its first run of the game off a solo home run to right field from Zack Davis to bring the score within two.
In the top of the eighth, KSU tallied five runs on four hits, powered by a three-run home run to bring the lead to seven, 8-1.
Leo Harris and Jess Davis started out the bottom of the eighth with back-to-back walks that made the Owls have their first pitching change of the game. Chandler Simpson had a bunt single to load the bases with no outs. Colton Schultz grounded into a double play and Harris scored followed by Thomas Johnston reaching on an error that brought in Jess Davis to bring the score within five, 8-3.
The Owls added a run in the top of the ninth. Zack Davis was in scoring position with one out in the bottom of the inning, but Kennesaw State closed out the game and series clinching win over the Blazers, 9-3.

Fans, including Gold Card holders and students, will not be permitted to attend home baseball games played at Young Memorial Field. Attendees will be limited to the player pass list and limited premium spaces.
Attendees will be asked to practice social distancing and wear a mask at all times per state and county ordinance.

Regions Field will accommodate fans, including Gold Card holders and students, with social distancing measures in place.
Fans will be asked to practice social distancing and sit in available seats. Masks are required at all times per state and county ordinance.

General admission single game tickets will be on sale for games at Regions Field and seats on site are available in groups of up to four (4) seats by clicking here.
