UAB Baseball Welcomes Samford for Midweek Matchup

BIRMINGHAM — The UAB baseball team will host in-town rival Samford in midweek match on March 23. Tuesday's action is set to take place at Regions Field with first pitch at 5:30 p.m.

UAB VS. SAMFORD
The Blazers (7-10, 0-0 CUSA) hold the all-time series lead over Samford (10-10, 3-0 SoCon), 58-30, which dates back to 1983. The most recent matchup came on April 4, 2019 when the Blazers defeated the Bulldogs 7-2 on the road at Joe Lee Griffin Field.

PITCHING MATCHUP
LHP Austin Bohannon (0-0, 1.64 ERA) vs. LHP Billy Creger (0-0, 0.00 ERA)

UAB LATELY
The Blazers are coming off a three-game series at home against Indiana State. Ian Ladner led UAB at the plate against the Sycamores, going 7-of-11 with four RBIs and plating two runs.

Colton Schultz scored a team-high four runs on the weekend.

SAMFORD LATELY
The Bulldogs enter the matchup on a three-game win streak, having swept UNC Greensboro on the road in a three-game series this past weekend.

At the plate, Towns King is a batting a team-high .341, while Ryan Crockett has 20 hits and 14 RBIs, both Samford highs.

TOPPING THE LEAGUE
Jess Davis is tied for 10th in the nation in stolen bases (10) and ranks in the top-10 in Conference USA in runs scored (20), hits (24) and RBIs (16).
