STATESBORO, Ga. — The UAB baseball team fell to Georgia Southern in the series finale at J.I. Clements Stadium, 9-5. The loss drops the Blazers to 6-8, 0-0 CUSA on the season.

UAB was led at the plate by Zack Davis who went 3-for-4 on the day with a home run, his second of the season, and three RBIs. Jess Davis extended his hitting streak to seven games with a double in the ninth.

Georgia Southern (9-6, 0-0 SBC) had their bats going early, scoring in the first inning on a sacrifice fly from Mason McWhorter.

The Blazers scored in the top of the second on a solo home run from Zack Davis to tie the score at one. The Eagles' scored two runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead, 3-1. Georgia Southern added three runs in the fourth and two in the fifth for the 8-1 advantage.

UAB answered in the top of the sixth. With runners in scoring position, Colton Schultz hit a sacrifice fly to bring in a run. Zack Davis hit a double to bring in two and Joseph Kiel reached on a fielder's choice to drive in the fourth run to bring the score to, 8-5.

The Eagles brought in a run in the bottom of the eighth off a solo shot from Noah Ledford.

In the top of the ninth, Jess Davis led off with a double down the left field line. He advances to third on a Schultz groundout. Following a pitch that found the backstop, Jess Davis went home, but was out to end the game, 9-5.
