BIRMINGHAM - UAB's home winning streak of 10 matches ended on Sunday afternoon after the Blazers fell to South Alabama 4-1 at Geroge Ward Park.
USA (5-1) opened the doubles point by inning on Court 2. Sydney Clarke and Annalisa Smith took the match on Court 3, 7-5. Court 1 went into a tie breaker. Adela Wasserbauerova and Dominika Hrabalova took the first two points before the Jags tied it at 3-3. USA went ahead 6-3 before Wasserbauerova and Hrabalova won the next two points to get within one point at 6-5, but could not hold on as USA took the match.
Hrabalova was the lone point getter in singles, defeating Caraline Scheufler 6-2, 6-2 on Court 4. Sydney Clarke was at match point (0-6, 6-2, 5-1) when the match was called.
Next up the Blazers visit Samford (4-4). The match is at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon.
