UAB Defeats Alabama A&M 7-0

BIRMINGHAM – UAB won its second consecutive match after defeating Alabama A&M on Sunday afternoon 7-0. The match, originally schedule to be played at George Ward Park, was moved to Athletic Club Alabama in Huntsville due to the cold temperatures.
In doubles, Sydney Clarke and Alexandra Ferreira Da Silva made quick work of Ximena Duarte Ramirez and Nthabiseng Mashego on Court 2, 6-0. Jana Hecking and Annalisa Smith were 6-3 winners over Camila Ruiz Dias and India Woods on Court 3. Adela Wasserbauerova and Dominika Hrabalova held off Anita Bozhko and Jasmine Boyd on Court 1 by the score of 7-5.
In singles, Smith put UAB ahead 2-0 after a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Woods on Court 6. Wasserbauerova took out Bozhko 6-2, 6-2 on Court 2 making the score 3-0. Megan Bertrands had the clincher on Court 3 with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Ruiz Dias.
Hecking defeated Boyd 6-3, 6-3 on Court 1. Hrabalova was a 6-2, 6-1 winner against Duarte Ramirez on Court 4 and Clarke defeated Neha Ghare 7-5, 1-6, 1-0 (5) on Court 5.
UAB (2-3) has just added Alabama (8-1) to the schedule. The Blazers will travel to Tuscaloosa on Wednesday, Feb. 17 for a 4 p.m. match at the Roberta Alison Baumgardner Tennis Facility.
