Women’s Tennis Falls to Georgia Tech 5-2

ATLANTA – For the second straight match, the UAB women's tennis team traveled to a Power 5 school when the Blazers faced Georgia Tech on Friday afternoon in Atlanta. The Yellow Jackets (4-2) outlasted the Blazers (0-2) 5-2 at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex.
Tech sweeped through the doubles winning all three courts 6-0, 6-1 and 6-2 respectively.
The Ramblin Wreck went up 3-0 after wins on Courts 1 (6-1, 6-3) and 2 (6-3, 6-2). UAB got wins from Annalisa Smith (6-1, 7-5) on Court 6 and Sydney Clarke (7-6, 6-4) on Court 5 to make the score 3-2.
Both Megan Bertrands and Dominika Hrabalova split their first two sets on Courts 3 and 4, but dropped hard-fought third sets. Bertrands 6-4 and Hrabalova 6-1.
Up next is the Blazers' home opener against ULM on Feb. 2. Match time at George Ward Park is 10 a.m.
