Overseas Update: William Lee Signs With Leicester Riders

LEICESTER, LEICESTERSHIRE, United Kingdom – Former UAB forward William Lee has signed a contract with the Leicester Riders of the British Basketball League.
The squad is one of the oldest professional clubs in England. They play in Leicester, which is located on the River Soar approximately 45 miles from Birmingham, England in the county town of Leicestershire.
Last season, the 6-9 forward averaged 7.0 points per game and 5.5 rebounds per game for the Nurnberg Falcons BC of the Pro-A League in Germany. Lee helped guide his team to a 16-12 record before the season was ended early because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Prior to his time in Germany, Lee played the 2018-19 season in the NBA's G-League for the Minnesota Timberwolves' affiliate the Iowa Wolves. In 32 games Lee averaged 5.5 points and 4.8 rebounds per game including a season high of 24 points against Sioux Falls Skyforce.
While in uniform at UAB, Lee was the 2016 & 2017 C-USA Defensive Player of the Year and was named to the 2016 C-USA All-Conference Third Team and 2017 C-USA All-Conference Second Team.
As a Blazer, Lee won 83 games including a school-record 26 wins in the 2015-2016 season. Lee also won the 2015 C-USA tournament championship and 2016 C-USA regular season championship.
The three-time Conference USA All-Defensive Team honoree is UAB's all-time leading shot blocker with 294 and ranks in the top-10 all-time in field goals made, rebounds, games played and started, and minutes played at UAB. Lee averaged 10.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game for his career.
