Blazers Win Seventh Straight After 4-1 Victory Over Belmont

BIRMINGHAM – UAB led from wire-to-wire, recording their seventh straight victory, after a 4-1 win over Belmont on Saturday afternoon at George Ward Park. The win marks the second longest winning streak for the Blazers since they won 11 during the 2007 season.
The Blazers won the doubles point on courts 1 and 2 as Dominika Hrabalova and Adela Wasserbauerova were victorious 6-3 and Jana Hecking and Marlene Herrmann were 6-2 winners.
In singles, Megan Bertrands put UAB ahead by two after a 6-2, 6-0 win on court 5. Hecking was a winner on court 1 by the score of 6-2, 6-4 and Herrmann clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-4 win on court 3.
Next up, UAB (10-4) hosts WKU (6-7) at 2 p.m. on Sunday. This is the Blazers' Senior Day as Herrmann and Hana Sisirak will be honored in a prematch ceremony. This is also UAB's SAAC match. Fans in attendance will be treated to free pizza and a free UAB women's tennis t-shirt.
