Hegh landed on the Conference USA All-Freshman Team. She led the team in batting average (.357), hits (55), doubles (16), walks (15) and on base percentage (.419).
Senior Natalie Erwin anchors the infield at shortstop and looks to continue her success at the plate after batting .322 a year ago.
In the circle, UAB's top two pitchers from last year are back in Sara Cespedes, who led the team in wins (7) and ERA (3.25), and Emily Kachel, who appeared in 28 games and finished with a 3.68 ERA. Newcomer and 2019 JUCO National Pitcher of the Year Amy Woodham looks to make immediate contributions this season.
A few other new faces hoping to contribute are Auburn transfer KK Crocker and Mississippi State transfer Macey Petrey.
The field is highlighted by the Washington Huskies who were the top ranked team in the NFCA preseason poll. UW finished 52-9 last year and reached the semifinals of the College World Series. The Huskies have been in the World Series each of the last three years and were in the title game in 2018.
