Women’s Tennis Blanks Alabama A&M, 7-0

BIRMINGHAM - The UAB women's tennis team shut out in-state foe Alabama A&M on Saturday afternoon at the UAB Campus Courts with a 7-0 victory.
UAB (7-4, 0-0 C-USA) claimed the doubles point on courts 2 and 3 as Dominika Hrabalova and Adela Wasserbauerova defeated Anita Bozhko and Jasmine Boyd, 6-3, before Jana Hecking and Marlene Herrman overcame Camila Ruiz Diaz and India Woods, 6-2, to put UAB up going into singles play.
The Green and Gold swept the Bulldogs in singles, with Hecking recording a court 1 win over Boyd (7-6, 4-6, 1-0). Wasserbauerova put UAB up 3-0 with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Bozhko before Herrmann topped Neha Ghare, 6-1, 6-2 on court 3.
The Blazers victories on courts 4-6 came from Hrabalova (6-2, 6-2), Megan Bertrands (6-0, 6-0) and Alexia Witthaus Vine (6-3, 6-2), respectively.
UAB returns to the courts on Sunday for a match with Jackson State. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. from George Ward Park.
