BIRMINGHAM - UAB recoded its first shutout of the season after a 4-0 victory over Murray State on Saturday afternoon.
The Blazers (5-4) opened things up by winning the doubles point.ย Jana Heckingย andย Marlene Herrmannย won at the #2 spot 6-4.ย Adela Wasserbauerovaย andย Dominika Hrabalovaย held on for a 7-6 win at #1 to clinch the point.ย Megan Bertrandsย andย Alexia Witthausย were deadlocked at 6-6 at #3 when the point was decided.
Hecking breezed through #1 singles, 6-0-, 6-3 - as did Herrmannย at #3 by the score of 6-2, 6-1 and Hrabalova at #4 6-2, 6-1.Bertrands and Hana Sisirak were both winning at #5 and #6 respectively when the match was decided.ย
UAB remains at home this week when they face North Alabama on Feb. 25 at George Ward Park. The Blazers also host Alabama A&M on Feb. 29 at the UAB Campus Courts.ย
