Blazers Complete Green and Gold Invitational

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB track and field team finished competition in its home-hosted Green and Gold Invitational on Saturday with six more top-five finishes.
Freshman Hannah Bloom led the Blazers on the track on day two, placing third in the mile run with a personal best time of 5:22.90. Next came freshman Makiyah Sills, who finished fourth in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.79 seconds. Senior Marielle Lewis rounded out UAB's top-five running times, completing the 800-meter run in 2:19.07 for a fifth-place slot.
On the field side, junior Anna Massa continued to stand out as she finished second in the pole vault and posted the highest score of the vaulters representing a team after reaching 3.83 meters. Fellow junior Brittany Floyd displayed her well-rounded athleticism through the day, placing fourth in the high jump and the long jump. The Columbus, Ga., native hit 5.56 meters in the long jump and 1.61 meters in the high jump for her top-five finishes.
Next up, the Blazers will head north to compete in the Harvard Crimson and White Invite on Jan. 31 and the Boston Scarlett and White Invite on Feb. 1. Meet information and coverage for each will be provided on the UAB track and field schedule page.
