UAB Tunes Up for Conference Meet in Starkville

BIRMINGHAM – UAB Track & Field prepares for its final regular season meet of the season on Friday as the Blazers travel to Starkville, Mississippi to compete in the Maroon and White Invite hosted by Mississippi State.
The action kicks off in the morning with field events, as Fiona Eastman, Victoria Freeland, Noelle Hambrick, Trinity Fellows compete in the Pole Vault at 10:00 AM, followed by Hope Foster in the High Jump at 11:00 AM. At noon, Madison Cameron and Mikayla Williams take on the Long Jump and will also return later for the Triple Jump.
In the early afternoon, Hope Foster and Hannah-Sophie Pippel compete in the Javelin at 1:30 PM. Field events continue at 3:00 PM with Laney Webb in the Shot Put, while the 4x100m Relay Team hits the track at the same time.
Track events pick up momentum mid-afternoon, starting with Kelly Hughes in the 400m Hurdles at 3:15 PM, followed by Emma Kate Alexander in the 400m at 3:35 PM. Sprint events continue with Victory George in the 100m at 3:55 PM and Kat Duren in the 100m Hurdles at 4:25 PM.
The day wraps up with distance events as Kylie Gero, Savannah Meyer, and Kaitlyn Wende compete in the 1500m at 5:25 PM.
THIS TIME LAST YEAR
Battling the weather all weekend, the team endured a three hour weather delay as heavy thunderstorms moved through the Starkville area.
In the high jump, Hope Foster jumped 1.60m for the third straight meet.
Noelle Hambrick finished with a mark of 3.70m in the Pole Vault for the second consecutive week. Hambrick also placed second in the event. Victoria Freeland came in at 3.55m.
