The 6-5 guard came to Birmingham in May after spending the 2018-19 season at the University of Cincinnati. Fredericks help lead the Bearcats to a 28-7 record, the American Athletic Conference tournament championship and a berth in the NCAA Championship.
Fredericks' best game as a Bearcat came against George Mason when he scored 11 points off the bench in just 11 minutes of play. He also scored in double-figures against Arkansas-Pine Bluff when he posted 10 points. His career-high for rebounds is eight against Wichita State.
Prior to Cincinnati, he played two seasons at Motlow State Community College in Lynchburg, Tenn. where he averaged a double-double each season while helping lead the Bucks to a combined 53-14 record. He finished his career with 1,001 points – ninth all-time in program history. Fredericks grabbed 769 rebounds, five shy of the school record and the most in 42 years by any Bucks player.
In his freshman campaign, Fredericks led Motlow State to a program record 30 victories and the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association regular season and tournament championships. The Bucks recorded winning streaks of 15 and 12 games and were ranked as high as #17 in the NJCAA. In 36 games, he averaged 13.1 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. He pulled down 360 total rebounds, 153 on the offensive end which was eighth and third respectively in the NJCAA. The season concluded with a quarterfinal appearance at the 2016-17 NJCAA national tournament.
During his sophomore season, Fredericks was named TCCAA Player of the Year after averaging 17.7 point and 10.3 rebounds per game. He was in the NJCC top 20 in three categories – 117 offensive rebounds (12th), 309 total rebounds (14th) and 10.3 rebounds per game (18th). He scored a career-high 36 points at Southwest Tennessee and matched that mark against #3 Vincennes in the Second Round of the NJCAA Championship. The Bucks went 23-8, took home their second consecutive Tennessee Community College Athletic Association championship and a berth in the 2017-18 NJCAA national tournament. For his efforts, he was named NJCAA First Team All-American.
Additionally, Fredericks has international experience when he represented his native Virgin Islands senior men's national team in the 2017 FIBA America Cup Tournament and the Under-17 national team in the FIBA 2013 Centrobasket U-17 Championships.
Fredericks arrived in the U.S. prior to his freshman year at Chamberlain (Tampa, Fla.) High School.
Due to NCAA transfer rules, Fredericks will sit out the 2019-20 season and will become eligible for the 2020-21 season.
