Women’s Golf Tied for 11th After First Round of C-USA Championship

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Junior Kenna Hughes led the UAB women's golf team by shooting even par on the opening day of the Conference USA Championship at the Verandah Club in Fort Myers, Fla.
Hughes has two birdies and two bogeys in her round and enters Tuesday's second 18 holes tied for 16th overall.
As a team, the Blazers are tied for 11th at +17, but eight teams are only separated by 12 stokes as Marshall is in fifth place at +5.
Old Dominion and UTSA share the overall team lead at -6.
Following Hughes, UAB has two players tied for 43rd at +5, and also have players in 54th and 56th heading into day two.
Hughes and the Blazers look to catch the field tomorrow morning when action resumes on the Old Orange course at the Verandah Club.
