UAB Softball to Host No. 6 Alabama on Wednesday Night

BIRMINGHAM - The UAB softball team is set to host undefeated and sixth-ranked Alabama on Wednesday night at Mary Bowers Field. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
The Blazers (8-7) are coming off a 3-2 weekend at the Citrus Classic in Orlando, and welcome the Crimson Tide who venture to Birmingham with an unblemished record of 15-0.
In a series that has featured four one-run games, UAB looks for its first win over the Crimson Tide on Wednesday. The most recent one-run game was a 5-4 Alabama victory in Birmingham at Mary Bowers Field in 2017.
Sophomore outfielder Jenna Olszewski leads UAB offensively with a .413 batting average and has a team-high 19 hits. She also paces the Blazers in slugging percentage (.761) and total bases (35).
UAB has six players who are batting over .300 through 15 games and have combined for 12 home runs, led by Sarah Crawford, Sierra Frazier and Dylinn Stancil who each have two so far.
Alabama most recently hosted the Bama Bash in which the Tide defeated No. 24 Minnesota and Missouri State twice, and Louisiana Monroe once. Baylee Tow leads the team with a .389 batting average, but Bailey Hemphill is the player to watch with a team-high five home runs and 23 RBI. In the circle, Montana Fouts is 6-0 with a 0.54 ERA, while collectively the Tide boasts a 1.86 team ERA.
Premium chair-back seating is available to adults for $15 and to youth (18 and younger) for $10, and can only be purchased by calling the UAB Athletics Ticket Office at 205-975-UAB1. General Admission bleacher seating is $10 for adults and $6 for youth.
