WHAT TO WATCH FOR:
- UAB looks to cap its third-consecutive undefeated season at home with a win on Saturday. The Blazers are 17-0 at Legion Field since returning to action and own the nation's fourth longest active home winning streak.
- Prior to kickoff, 14 seniors will be honored as they play their final home game. Two seniors, Lee Dufour and Nick Vogel, are the last remaining players from the 2014 team, while the remaining 12 have gone 26-11 overall at UAB and helped the Blazers win the 2018 C-USA title, along with the program's first-ever bowl game.
- The Blazers are coming off a season high 353 rushing yards in their 37-10 victory over UTEP last Saturday. UAB had two 100-yard rushers in quarterback Dylan Hopkins and running back Jermaine Brown Jr. Hopkins had a career-best 163 yards on the ground, and Brown Jr. matched his career high with 116.
- Austin Watkins Jr. is 192 yards away from becoming the third player in program history to post 1,000 receiving yards in a season. Watkins Jr. has 808 yards this season. With a minimum of three games remaining, he has to average 64 yards per game to accomplish that feat.
- UAB is ranked No. 7 nationally in total defense and will be tested by the top ranked offense in the league. Louisiana Tech averages 457.3 yards and 35.3 points per game, but is without its starting quarterback J'Mar Smith, who is serving his second of a two-game suspension.
- In five games at home this season, the Blazer defense has allowed just 13.2 points against. UAB is coming off a game in which it held UTEP to 10 points.
- The Blazers limited UTEP to 2-of-13 on third down conversions and checks in at No. 2 nationally in third down defense. Additional national ranks include 3rd in fumble recoveries (13), 7th in passing yards allowed (168.9), 8th in sacks per game (3.40) and 10th in rushing yards allowed (99.0).
- Junior linebacker Kristopher Moll has forced four of UAB's 13 fumbles and is tied for third nationally in forced fumbles per game (0.44). Jack linebacker Jordan Smith has three, which ties him for eighth nationally.
- Moll looks to solidify his candidacy for Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year on Saturday. Moll is one of only two players in the league who ranks top 10 in tackles (4th), TFL (7th) and sacks (8th) per game. For the season, he has 75 tackles, 11.5 TFL, 6.0 sacks, six quarterback hurries, four forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, one interception and one pass breakup.
- The Blazers are 26-11 since the start of the 2017 season and 18-6 dating back to last year. Both marks are tops of any team in Conference USA.
Along with Senior Day, it is Kids Takeover Day at Legion Field. Youth sports teams and leagues are invited to participate in Team Day where groups of 10 or more will be recognized on field during the game. Click here to purchase your discounted group tickets.
Following Saturday, the Blazers conclude the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 30, at North Texas. The game from Denton kicks at 3 p.m. CST on Stadium.
