STORYLINES:
- UAB brings Conference USA's No. 1 rushing offense into the game at Coastal Carolina after compiling 285 rushing yards and four touchdowns against Savannah State. The four rushing touchdowns came from four different backs.
- Sophomore Spencer Brown looks for back-to-back 100-yard rushing games. He tallied 102 yards and a touchdown last week and only saw action in the first half. In 14 career games, Brown has seven 100-yard rushing performances and needs just 33 yards to move into eighth place on UAB's career rushing list.
- Quarterback A.J. Erdely started the season 22-of-28 for 228 and two touchdowns. The senior now has 31 total touchdowns in 14 career games and is two touchdowns shy of moving into fifth place on UAB's career total touchdowns list.
- Collin Lisa was one of eight players nationally to have double-digit receptions. Lisa had a career-high 10 catches and is leading C-USA in that category after the first week.
- UAB gained 548 yards of total offense against Savannah State, marking the 27th time in program history the Blazers have gone over 500 yards of total offense. UAB is 16-11 in such games.
- The UAB defense recorded its first shutout in 10 years last week by blanking Savannah State. It was the sixth time since becoming Division I members that UAB has pitched a shutout, dating back to 1995. The Blazers, along with Georgia, Georgia Tech and Air Force, were the only teams in Week 1 to not allow a point.
- The Blazers held Savannah State to just 1-of-17 passing for 23 yards and because of that are the nation's No. 1 ranked pass efficiency defense. Only Florida and Utah allowed less passing yards in Week 1, but UAB's one pass completion against led the nation.
- UAB is 13-10 all-time against teams from the Sun Belt Conference, but just 3-8 on the road.
