CONWAY, S.C. – The UAB football team fell to Coastal Carolina 47-24 on Saturday night at Brooks Stadium in Conway, S.C.

Spencer Brown ran for 94 yards on the night and moved into eighth place on UAB's career rushing list. The Blazers compiled 435 yards of total offense with 286 yards coming on the ground.

UAB (1-1) has now rushed for at least 285 yards in each of its first two games this season.

Fitzgerald Mofor led the defense with a career-high 11 tackles, while Quindarius Thagard, D.A. Williams and Chris Woolbright all set new career highs in tackles against Coastal Carolina. Thagard and Woolbright picked up six while Williams had five.

Coastal Carolina (1-1) struck first with a 60-yard touchdown run from Marcus Outlow on the game's first possession. UAB's offense then took the field and drove 75 yards on its first drive which was capped by an A.J. Erdely 4-yard touchdown run to tie the game.

Kingston Davis then put UAB up 14-7 by reeling off a 16-yard run followed by a 14-yard touchdown run at the 3:42 mark of the opening quarter.

The Blazers scored their third rushing touchdown of the first half when Kendall Parham took a pitch 64 yards to the house in electric fashion which gave the Blazers a 21-7 lead with 13:35 left to play in the half.

Coastal scored the next two touchdowns but missed the extra point which would have tied the game at 21, and Nick Vogel tacked on a 42-yard field goal as UAB took a 24-20 lead into halftime.

The Blazers had 318 yards of total offense in the first half with 253 of them coming on the ground.

The Chanticleers took a 27-24 lead with 7:04 left in the third when Outlow converted a third-and-goal from the 1-yard line for his second rushing score of the game.

Coastal Carolina tacked on three more touchdowns in the fourth quarter, the first coming on a seven-yard pass from Kilton Anderson to Alex James with 11:14 left to play. CCU's Torrance Marable scored the second on a two-yard touchdown run with 3:17 remaining. Following a UAB turnover, Marable scored his third touchdown of the night, a 34-yard rushing score with just three minutes to play in the fourth quarter as Coastal took a 47-24 lead.

The Blazers return to Legion Field next Saturday to play former C-USA foe Tulane at noon.
