Blazers Blow Past Bison In Tuesday Night Tilt

NASHVILLE – A season-high three goals lifted the UAB men's soccer team to its second win of the season as the Blazers defeated Lipscomb, 3-1, on Tuesday night in Nashville.
UAB (2-5-2) scored three goals for the first time since netting a trio at Memphis on Aug. 27, 2017.
"Tonight was a great win against a very good team," head coach Mike Getman said. "We played well as we have done all season. Tonight the ball went in earlier and that made things a little easier."
DeAndre Robinson hit the game winning goal in the 13th minute as he scored on a pass from Blake White to put UAB ahead 1-0.
10 minutes later, Philip Makinde fed Robinson a pass that he sent past the Lipscomb keeper as he scored his second goal of the night and put the Blazers ahead 2-0.
UAB netted its third and final goal in the 62nd minute as White found the back of the back for his first career goal and put the Blazers ahead 3-0.
Lipscomb (1-7-0) scored its lone goal of the night when Logan Paytner headed in a pass in the 89th minute, but it was not enough as time expired and UAB took the match.
For Robinson it was his first multi-goal game of his career as he became the first Blazer to accomplish the feat since Henrique Sposito did it against No. 15 Kentucky in 2016.
Makinde, the reigning Conference USA Co-Offensive Player of the Week, registered a point for the third consecutive match as he contributed his first assist of the season.
UAB returns to pitch on Saturday, Oct. 29, when it travels to Charlotte to resume C-USA play. Kickoff between the Blazers and 49ers is slated for 6 p.m. CST.
