UAB Travels to No. 20 Charlotte

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB men's soccer team puts its three-game unbeaten streak on the line when it travels to Charlotte to take on the 20th-ranked 49ers on Saturday night. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m. CST from Transamerica Field.
UAB (2-5-2, 0-2-1) is coming off a 3-0 win at Lipscomb on Tuesday night. DeAndre Robinson was responsible for two of the goals as he recorded his first career multi-goal game.
Philip Makinde has been a spark plug for the Blazers during the streak. The reigning Conference USA Co-Offensive Player of the Week has two goals and an assist in his last three games.
No. 20 Charlotte enters Saturday's contest with a 4-2-1 overall record, but are winless in C-USA as its dropped matches to Kentucky and Old Dominion. The 49ers are coming off of a 2-1 win over Wofford on Tuesday night.
Elliot Panicco has logged all 650 minutes in net for the 49ers and has helped Charlotte to four shutouts. The North Carolina native ranks second in C-USA in goals against average (0.69), third in save percentage (.759) and second in shutouts.
UAB and Charlotte are no strangers to each other as the two teams have met 33 times with Charlotte leading the series 19-9-5. The Blazers and 49ers battled to a 1-1 double overtime tie in Birmingham last season.
