UAB Travels to Lipscomb for Midweek Match

BIRMINGHAM – Coming off of the first unbeaten week of the season, the UAB men's soccer team heads north up Interstate 65 to Nashville for a midweek match at Lipscomb on Tuesday night. Kickoff between the Blazers and Bison is slated for 7:30 p.m.
UAB (1-5-2, 0-2-1) heads to Nashville with some momentum after 1-1 home ties against Memphis and Marshall last week.
Philip Makinde netted both goals for the Blazers last week as he became the team leader in goals (2) and points (4) and is the only UAB player to score multiple goals this season.
The Green and Gold is no stranger to overtime this season as six of their eight matches have reached extra time. UAB holds a 1-3-2 record in extra time contests.
Lipscomb (1-6-0) enters Tuesday night in the midst of a six-game losing streak. The Bison are coming off a 3-2 double overtime loss at Jacksonville Saturday night.
Javier Leija leads the team in points (6) and assists, and is tied for the team lead in goals (2). The sophomore has registered a point in his last two games.
Chris Zappia has logged the majority of minutes in net for the Bison. He has allowed eight goals, while collecting 25 saves to go along with a .758 save percentage.
General admission tickets are available online for $5, or can be purchased at the entrance to the soccer complex.
