Conference USA, UAB Announces 2018-19 League Schedule

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – As the start of the 2018-19 season rapidly approaches, the Conference USA office and head coach Robert Ehsan have announced the league portion of the UAB men's basketball schedule.
With the league's new scheduling format going into effect this season, the Blazers are set to face 12 of their C-USA partners once during the first seven weeks of the campaign while playing a home-and-away series with their travel partner, Middle Tennessee.
Opponents for the remaining conference games will be decided based on a grouping system in which teams will be divided into two groups of five (1-5 and 6-10) and a group of four (11-14) based on the conference standings. During the final three weeks, teams will play within their respective grouping with home and away games determined by a preset formula.
"Our league is continuing to get stronger and I think our conference schedule is a testament to that," Ehsan said. "The new format will also help grow our league and I think fans will really enjoy it. It is definitely going to be challenging, but I know our guys are up for it."
UAB begins the league slate with two home games against Florida Atlantic (Jan. 3) and FIU (Jan. 5) before hitting the road for two matchups at Louisiana Tech (Jan. 10) and at long-time rival Southern Miss (Jan. 12).
The Blazers return home for a two-game set against UTEP on Jan. 17 and UTSA on Jan. 19 before closing out the month of January with three-straight road contests against North Texas, Rice and Middle Tennessee.
Middle Tennessee then makes a quick return trip to Birmingham three days later to face UAB on Feb. 2 to kick off a three-game homestand that includes Old Dominion (Feb. 7) and Charlotte (Feb. 9).
The Green and Gold's final two contests of the opening seven weeks of the season wraps up with a visit to Marshall on Feb. 14 and WKU on Feb. 16.
Following the conclusion of the regular season, UAB heads back to Frisco, Texas, for the 2019 Conference USA Basketball Championship on March 13-16 at the Ford Center at The Star.
Season tickets for the 2018-19 men's basketball campaign are on sale now and start as low as $105. New this upcoming season is the Family Four Pack which includes four season tickets for a total cost of $400. The men's basketball priority deadline is September 1.
