Women’s Soccer Adds Alyssa Young to 2018 Class

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – UAB women's soccer coach Erica Demers reached into the local ranks for her latest signee, as the second-year coach announced the addition of Spain Park senior Alyssa Young, who will join the Blazers this coming fall.
The center back played four years of varsity soccer at the high school level, starting the past three seasons for the Class 7A Jaguars. A versatile defender, Young started at midfield her sophomore year before transitioning to center back as a junior.
The Birmingham, Ala. product tallied five goals and twelve assists during her final season, helping Spain Park to a first place finish in the highly competitive Class 7A, Area 6 and a spot in the quarterfinals of the AHSAA state tournament.
A veteran of the club circuit, Young played seven years with the Vestavia Hills Soccer Club and spent two years with the The Birmingham United Soccer Association.
UAB will enter 2018 behind the momentum of a historic 2017 campaign, which saw the club claim its most victories (13) since 2004.
